“It’s bone-on-bone. I’m going to need to get it replaced anyway.” This belief may be true for some, but not others. Too often people give up too soon, even when the “bone-on-bone” joint is very treatable.
Many people have gone under the knife for a joint operation before they have even tried conservative treatment. In my physical therapy practice, I have seen even the dreaded “bone-on-bone” condition improve with stretches, strengthening and acupressure. When their symptoms fade, people are pleasantly surprised that the “bone-on-bone” condition is still there, but their pain is not.
