ACUPRESSURE INTERSTITIUM

Acupuncture and acupressure work to relieve aches and pains throughout your body. Both modalities use points in the body to help migraines, nausea and so much more. Many people prefer manual pressure instead of needles. In my physical therapy practice, I utilize acupressure points as an adjunct when treating some of my clients. Once you know the proper points, you can learn how to treat yourself. People tell me, “This is crazy,” referring to how pressure in one area of the body relieves symptoms far away.

People wonder, “How does acupuncture and acupressure work?” Acupuncture and acupressure release endorphins; the body’s natural pain killers.  The body’s interstitium also plays a role.

What is this interstitium? The interstitium is an internal web of fluid filled spaces. These spaces help the different parts of your body communicate with each other. The interstitium allows nutrients to flow from one part of the body to another; promoting wound healing and so much more. It converts mechanical pressure into electrical energy which can then travel to targeted areas.

There are so many incredible connections we will explore in this blog. An upcoming acupressure handbook is in the works. Stay tuned. More to come!
